What is Myofascial Cupping?
Cupping therapy is a type of myofascial massage. Suction cups are used on the body to lift and separate soft tissue releasing caught cells and allowing nutrients and lymphatic drainage into the area.
Does it hurt?
As the cups are placed on your body you may feel some discomfort but this feeling disperses as the tension in your soft tissue releases and most clients say they feel very relaxed.
What are those marks?
They are NOT bruises. The marks are a result of old and dead blood cells being drawn closer to the skins surface. As they are not bruises they are not painful and usually the more often you have cupping performed in that area the less markings will appear.
The possibility, intensity and duration of markings depend on the persons genetics, the area being treated, and the history of the soft tissue in that area.
Some benefits you may notice from cupping….
-Stretching and release of tight muscle and “knots”
-Increased blood flow to the area
-Increased oxygen and nutrients into the area
-Improved lymphatic flow
-Reduced swelling in the area and encourages drainage
-Improved lactic acid flow through muscles
-Improved recovery and shorten recovery time
-Increased flexibility and ROM
-Stimulated metabolism
-Sense of relaxation
PLEASE NOTE
-Massage oil is used to support the suction of the cups. Please wear clothing that is suitable incase excess oil soaks in to
-To receive the most benefits after every cupping session I highly recommend to my clients that you drink plenty of water for the first 24-48hrs and have a warm shower before bed.
